TEXT: Ephesians 2:4-10

Memory Verse: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bore witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Such beautiful words usher us into GOD’s eternal purpose for every man. The subject of grace is one most Christians are quite familiar with. At once, it speaks of that attribute of GOD we most cherish; one we commonly quote in daily conversation. We can easily agree that we could not possibly be saved outside of it.

in 1 Peter 5:10, GOD is described as “The GOD of all grace”. Therefore to understand the subject of grace is to understand the very nature of God Himself. The picture of GOD’s grace is painted throughout the Bible – even as much in the old testament. In the New Testament God appeared to us as grace in the Person of  Jesus Christ; a Man “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

The subject of grace is quite vast; however, in this segment of the study, we will be looking at grace as it affects salvation and our victory over sin.

SPIRITUAL MATURITY 1

(Walking in the spirit)

TEXT: Galatians 5:16-25

Memory Verse:“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”(Galatians 5:25)

INTRODUCTION

After salvation, the aim of every Christian should be spiritual growth with the intent to become spiritually mature. Without spiritual growth, there wouldn’t be any notable difference between our new nature compared to the old one (Galatians 4:1). According to the apostle Paul, it’s an ongoing process that will never end in this life(Philippians 3:12–14). At new birth, there a conscious effort to please God by changing our old ways. But no matter how hard we might work at it, sustainable is almost impossible without the enabling of the Holy Spirit within us.  Apostle Paul experienced this challenge in his quest for spiritual growth according to  Romans 7:15 (For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do).

If you try to live the Christian life by your own fleshly effort, it becomes complex, difficult and even impossible to live. I think it is the main reason why people give up on their spiritual growth pursuit. The bible prescription for overcoming the flesh which will lead to spiritual growth is “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16)”. In this study, our aim is to understand what it means and learn how to walk in the spirit.

    LIVING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW

    (Focus on Eternal Reward)

    TEXT:1Corinthians 3:13-15

    Memory Verse:“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”(2Corinthians 5:10)

    INTRODUCTION

    The Bible frequently reminds us that life on earth is brief. Our earthly bodies are called“tents”(2 Peter 1:13), temporary dwelling places of our eternal souls. We are  strangers, and pilgrims on earth. Our relationship with the cross of  Jesus (salvation) will determine where we will spend eternity (haven or Hell), but for believers (saved ones)how we live here on earth will determine how we spend eternity(with rewards or regards). If that is the case, as believers everything we do ought to be done with eternity in mind. Knowing that it will affect how we live in eternity.

    Often when eternity is preached, the emphasis is mainly on haven and hell. The concept of eternal loss and rewards for believers are been neglected which is a key to unlock our motivation for eternity. Paul was motivated by the prospect of eternal rewards (2 Timothy 4:7-8). It is not as simple as saying, “I will be in heaven and that’s all that matters.” On the contrary, Paul spoke about the loss of reward as a terrible loss, and the receiving of rewards from Christ as a phenomenal gain. Not all Christians will have the same rewards in heaven. Therefore if we want to live without eternal regrets in haven we must make our lives count now, and that can only be done by living life with eternity in view.
