THE GRACE OF GOD 1 (Grace and Salvation)

TEXT: Ephesians 2:4-10

Memory Verse: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bore witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Such beautiful words usher us into GOD’s eternal purpose for every man. The subject of grace is one most Christians are quite familiar with. At once, it speaks of that attribute of GOD we most cherish; one we commonly quote in daily conversation. We can easily agree that we could not possibly be saved outside of it.

in 1 Peter 5:10, GOD is described as “The GOD of all grace”. Therefore to understand the subject of grace is to understand the very nature of God Himself. The picture of GOD’s grace is painted throughout the Bible – even as much in the old testament. In the New Testament God appeared to us as grace in the Person of  Jesus Christ; a Man “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

The subject of grace is quite vast; however, in this segment of the study, we will be looking at grace as it affects salvation and our victory over sin.
